Rules for Radicals

For those that aren't familiar with Saul Alinsky or his school for radicals in Chicago, whose star pupils are Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton, here's a summary of his book. As you read through the information, think about where and from whom you see these tactics used. Hmmm....

Saul Alinsky's "Rules For Radicals" explained

Union organizers are often highly trained. In many unions this training includes indoctrination in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals."

Saul Alinsky was a ruthless radical organizer. He would stop at nothing to win. Before he passed away in 1972 he published a book called "Rules for Radicals" in which he outlined his power tactics and questionable ethics.

Anyone interested in staying, or becoming, Union Free, whether in an organizing campaign or in a decertification or deauthorization election, ought to become familiar with these rules.

This can be very valuable information. As one expert observer points out "Rules for Radicals are reversible and can be used against the Left."

Here's a brief summary of the rules. We are indebted to the Public Service Research Foundation for this information.

Rules for Power Tactics:

1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the experience of your people.
3. Whenever possible, go outside of the experience of the enemy.
4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

Because Alinsky was sensitive to criticism that he wasn't ethical, he also included a set of rules for the ethics of power tactics. You can see from these why his ethics were so frequently questioned.

Rules to test whether power tactics are ethical:

1. One's concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one's personal interest in the issue.
2. The judgment of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.
3. In war the end justifies almost any means.
4. Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.
5. Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.
6. The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.
7. Generally, success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.
8. The morality of means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.
9. Any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition to be unethical.
10. You do what you can with what you have and clothe it in moral garments.
11. Goals must be phrased in general terms like "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity," "Of the Common Welfare," "Pursuit of Happiness," or "Bread and Peace."

These are just the highlights. There's obviously a lot more to it. Alinsky's book is still available in most college bookstores and on Amazon and is worth reading.

CNN Offensive to Most Tea Party Patriots!

This email is from the Tax Day Tea Party. For those of you who were offended at CNN's attack on the Tea Parties and even Tea Party patriots individually, they are giving you an opportunity to sign a petition that will go to CNN. There is also a link to Don't Go's efforts to contact sponsors of CNN. I had to click several times to go there, but keep trying! The only way we can make a difference is to rattle cages, so... rattle away!

CNN Offensive

Posted: 26 Apr 2009 11:22 PM PDT

About a week and a half ago we put up a poll to see how many folks would cast a vote saying they find the CNN attack on the Tea Party Movement offensive.

We ended up with just under 5,000 votes with almost 100% feeling the CNN attack was offensive. 5,000 votes may not mean much to some, but we consider it a fairly strong statement. So strong, in fact, we’ve decided to respond with a full scale internet campaign to help us start building a coalition that opposes CNN and those who enable them to spew their hate.

CNN Offensive

CNNOffensive.com is in place to accomplish several goals.

1) Demand a Public Apology
And not just a standard, general apology. No, we want a direct apology issued to the hundreds of thousands of Americans who attended a Tea Party on April 15th.

2) No More Taxpayer Funded Soapbox
CNN’s offensive, partisan content is displayed in public owned spaces all across the country (Municipal Airports, for example) and we believe this is unacceptable. We intend to identify these areas and begin contacting local government to have this come to an end.

3) Contact CNN Sponsors
CNN is free to spew partisan speech all they like. We’re firm believers in free speech and we’re happy to see CNN use it just like any other Americans can. That being said, we the people are free to choose what companies we spend our money on.

The companies who choose to sponsor CNN, in our opinion, choose to support the offensive message CNN publishes. There for, we will choose to support their competitors wherever possible.

Please visit CNNOffensive.com and sign our petition. If you’re on Facebook, make sure you join the CNN Offensive Facebook Group.

Earth Day Is Vladimir Lenin's Birthday

I don't believe in coincidences, so I was surprised to learn that this "Earth Day" that our school children are being indoctrinated into is the birthday of Vladimir Lenin, founder of the Soviet Union. Now, I find it very difficult to believe that our so-called "environmentalists", who could have picked 364 other days in the year, chose April 22nd to celebrate "Earth Day".

Take a look at this eye-opening article by Alexander Marriott in the April 21, 2004 edition of Capitalism Magazine.

http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=3382

Then, take a look at this English translation of Raul Castro's article lauding Vladimir Lenin the day after his birthday, Earth Day!
http://octavocercoen.blogspot.com/2009/04/lenins-birthday.html

In case, you still believe that the coincidence of Lenin's birthday also being Earth Day, just take a look at this explanation and President Obama, himself, honoring Lenin with his shovel ready. The shovel, you see, is a symbol of suffering and sacrifice for "The Greater Good".

History Repeating Itself???

The following came in an email that seems very familiar to today's happenings. They say that history repeats itself despite warnings to never allow this to happen!
This cartoon from the Chicago Tribune,1934, may sound too ominously familiar.

The government actions following the 1929 Crash made the economy worse, not better. The result was a down cycle that probably would have worked out in 3 - 4 years, but became a 10 year depression due to government intervention.

The more things change, the more they stay the same! Those who fail to heed the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. A review of the economic history of the 1930's demonstrates that Roosevelt's spending programs failed to turn the economy around. Unemployment temporarily dropped and then rose again in the late thirties to more than 15%. It took World-War II to reverse that trend.
